As a stone of Papatūānuku (Earth Mother) pounamu (greenstone) is tapu (sacred) and because of this it will be blessed for you. Once it is yours you may wish to have it re-blessed or recite a small karakia (prayer) over it recognising it as your own, binding your wairua (essence and spirit) to it. Love it, name it, cherish it, protect it, and in return it will protect you.

Your pounamu will attract all kinds of mauri (life forces), and the korero (story) of this dreamcatcher is that it will separate the positive from the negative.

The four winds of Nga Hau E Wha leads negative energies to the outer rim that represents the 12 māori heavens, trapping them there until the morning rays of Tamanuiterā (the Sun) extinguishes them. Positive energy is guided inwards, attracted by your pounamu then flows down through the feathers, to you.

The nine feathers represent Ranginui and Papatūānuku (Sky Father and Earth Mother) along with their children Tūmatauenga (God of War), Tāwhirimātea (God of Weather), Tāne Mahuta (God of the Forest), Tangaroa (God of the Sea), Rongomātāne (God of Peace), Haumie-tiketike (God of uncultivated foods) and Ruamoko (God of Earthquakes).

Made from American Walnut veneer 40cm diameter (roughly 80cm tall with feathers), our dreamcatchers will only be made with genuine Kai Tahu pounamu from the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand, therefore will be available periodically.
